Ida Hempel

Ida has dedicated her career to strategies for investing in and scaling high-impact climate solutions and currently serves as Vice President at Galvanize, a climate-focused global investment firm. Ida previously worked as an investor at Generation, where she was part of the founding team of Just Climate, an investment platform dedicated to catalyzing climate infrastructure. Ida began her career in venture investing at the Emerson Collective and in business development at Tesla. She is a contributor to the Taskforce for Climate-Related Financial Disclosures and a member of the Portfolio Alignment Team, an industry initiative to accelerate net zero alignment of financial institutions. Ida holds an MBA and MS in Environment & Resources from Stanford and a BA in Applied Math from Harvard.

Julia (Osterman) Strong

Julia previously led business development for NCX (formerly SilviaTerra), a climate tech and precision forestry company focused on building the future of natural capital markets. Julia strongly believes that to solve the planet’s most pressing challenges - climate change and biodiversity loss - we need interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral solutions. She’s worked across public, private, and non-profit sectors from The Nature Conservancy to the California state government to sustainable forestry investing. Julia holds an MBA and MS in Environment & Resources from Stanford and a BA in Environmental Studies with a concentration on biodiversity conservation from Yale University.

Kate Wharton

Kate is an investment professional unlocking capital for high-impact transactions in emerging and frontier markets. She is Managing Director & Head of Natural Capital at CrossBoundary, and previously launched and managed CrossBoundary’s investment advisory office in Iraq, where she was based. Prior to CrossBoundary, Kate was based in Istanbul as COO of Hala Systems, a humanitarian technology company focused on civilian protection from airstrikes in Syria. She started her career in management consulting, focusing on energy, water, and sanitation in emerging markets and co-founding D2international. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Kate holds an MBA from Stanford GSB and a BSc in Economics and International Affairs from Georgia Tech.
